Maxtor HD Problem w/ ASUS P3V4X

I'm having a problem with my P3V4X mobo because every so often the mobo will not detect my Maxtor DiamondMax 40GB 7200 HD. Anyone have similar problems?

The only problem I have had with Maxtors started the same way yours did...started not detecting it then it started on fire. Need to say it is being RMA'ed as we speak.

I'm using the same HD with my P3V4X and have never had a problem with that. Are you using the latest BIOS (1005)?

No, I'm not using the latest BIOS. Is it better than the 1003 version?
