Maxtor Harddrives

I'm shopping for a new hard drive, and I was just wondering, what is the difference between the hard drives included in the retail kits, and their other hard drives that aren't. Are the ones included in the kit the diamond max's or a whole other line, since the warrenties for the retail kits are only 1 year, while the warranties for most of the oem ones are 3 years.
