Maxtor hard drive capacity

I just installed my maxtor 160 gb hard drive.

Im running my pc off the 40gb harddrive that i plan to remove.


First, it says the HD is only 152 gb. Is that normal?

Second, when i try to boot off it it wont load. I copied all the files from my old HD to that HD, and it wont boot. It says its drive F. Is that the IDE-3 in my bios setup?


Im running win xp pro with SP1.

First, don't worry about it saying 152, thats normal.

Second, how did you go about copying your data from one drive to another? Did you set the active partition after doing so?

i used the installation disk that came with the drive. It had an option to copy the files from my current boot disk to the new HD. All the files are there already.
