hi,
i got my 40g maxtor dx740 yesterday. It was still in the (unopened) thick foam-padded box newegg shipped it in when the box fell aprox. 1 1/2 feet down of my bed on a thick carpet.
ok...i freaked a bit anyway and got that tool from maxtor's page to check the HD ('powermax')...and i run all tests....install-test...smart-test and one extensive test which concluded 'congratulations....your drive is certified error free'. I hope that if these tests show now errors and problems i can assume my drive's all right then ?
() someone said to leave ATA100 alone ????? Why ? i also got this ata100 cable and thought using ATA100 should give some performance boost....at least for the data-transfer ? Or is ata 66 already the limit ? (of course my board is ata100 capable)
