After i saw the post in the "HOT DEAL" i went out and purched the Maxtor 40 gig HD from Staples, but then i found out it the Dimand Plus 45, I am just wondering is Dimand Plus 60 better?

Also, when i try to install Win2k on that new HD, it can only detect 33 gigs, why's that?

your computer still remembers the old HD and it still thinks its the same one

Run Fdisk or sumthing and re partition the HD to the full 40 gigs

FDisking alone wont help, change your BIOS to autodetect hard drives. Then FDISK if you have to, may not. Probably will...

Thanx for the reply...
my old HD is an IBM 60 gigs, so i have no idea where the 33 gigs came from, but now i might just go exchange it the 60 gigs Maxtor Dimand Plus 60, but can someone tell me whats the difference between the Dimand Plus 45 and 60? besides the size?

PlatinumGold is correct.

The Diamond Plus 45 has 15 GB platters and the Diamond Plus 60 has 20 GB platters. The difference, is supposedly faster transfer times and seek times. The Diamond Plus 60 is supposed to compete against the IBM 60GXP since both use the 20GB platters (3 platters = 60GB max). ;) Enjoy.
