Owners of this hard drive, Do you have a DMA checkbox under sytem properties for this Hard Drive?

I just installed mine & I don,t have the dma checkbox anymore or for my cdrom.

Maybe it has something to do with my ATA66 on my mobo.
I have a Soyo 6ba+IV & I'm using The Highpoint ATA66 ide controllers.

Is no dma checkbox normal?
Or am I just missing something simple here?

Not related to your hard drive but to the Soyo 6BA+IV and Highpoint controllers. I believe that if you are using the ATA66 controllers you have DMA enabled. Windows sees your drive as a SCSI device and the DMA box is not an option. Enjoy.

Thanks, windows does see it as an SCSI device.

I was wondering why there was no option.

Just trying to make sure I set this up right.

Thanks!

Run some benches. If you se anything above 33MB/s, then you're OK. More than likely, DMA is built into the HPT366 drivers.

-SUO, SY-6BA+IV and WD 20GB ATA66

Downloading it now.

I'll run the benchmarks when I get home from work tonite.

Thanks for the link.
