Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 PATA or SATA?

Since this is my first question here I'll just say HI to everyone 😉
I'm in the process of deciding on what to put in my new system.
What I'm interested in is this which HD is better? The PATA or SATA version of the Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9? Is there an improvement in performance? Is it worth the extra 40 to 50? Or should I buy a an other one?
Thanks for any hints, tips and help provided.

There is no performance gain at all. It's only really useful if you want RAID and don't have it on PATA, or if you want to add more drives and don't have any PATA channels left and can't be bothered with a PCI add in card.

The actual drives will perform the same, as it's the mechanics of the drive that determines the speed, not how it's connected to the motherboard. Save some money.
