Hello All...

Here is the problem... just got a 40GB Maxtor drive and the ATA100 card to go along with it.

Whenever I run the maxblast software, it only recognizes the drive as being about 8GB. However, when I hook the drive up to my onboard IDE, the drive detects fine. It is copying the contents of the old drive as we speak.

Is there something wrong with my card? I see nothing of a bios update from maxtor for the card.

Here is a little info...

Abit BX6 rev2
Celeron @ 450
196 MB of ram (thanks CompUSA)
Maxtor 40 GB
Fujitsu 2 GB
Maxtor ATA100 PCI
Generic PCI Sound
Generic PCI Ethernet

I just updated the BX6 to its latest Bios, so I don't think the problem is there. Any help is appreciated.

I was able to partition and format the drive using fdisk...

I then used the maxblast software to copy my old information. When I get into windows, it lists the drive as being a 40 GB drive, but with only 2 GB free... the rest is taken up? WTF? I only transfered about 1.5 GB over to the new drive from the old one.

Is this a MaxBlast problem? Does Win98 SE have a problem with 40 GB drives?

Any help is appreciated.
