OK, let me see if I can explain. I have a system with the Maxtor ATA 100 (aka Promise) PCI Controller Card, which has the main drive as an ATA 100 Maxtor Drive. But this drive is currently plugged into the Primary (ATA 66) IDE Port on the Mother board. Can I disconnect the drive from that Primary IDE Port and Connect it to the PCI Controller card and still be able to boot my system? Thus taking advantage of the Card & Drive's Speed?

Thanks

Specs:

Pentium 3 667MHZ
Running Windows XP Pro
Maxtor 40 GB ATA 100 Drive
ASUS CUV4X Motherboard

don't think you'll see much of a difference but when you move your hdd set the bios boot order for scsi before ide as the pci card is seen as a scsi device!
