maxtor 6L200R0 should be 200gigs but i only get 32 gigs.
Now, its not the bios, i got a 40gig in there as a master.
Its not the OS, i gots the service packs.
Its not the jumpers, no jumpers because in slave, CLJ thing covered.
And, yes, it is NOT FAT32.
Formatted in windows with native utlility and with maxtor utilities, also in dos and with xp disk (where it was set as master, jumpered accordingly, no CLJ).

Got anything?

Need more info. Is it detected as a 200Gb or 32Gb in BIOS?

If it's detected as a 32Gb in BIOS then it's not an OS or driver issue, it's a hardware or BIOS issue.

You said you know it's not the BIOS because you have a 40Gb master in there. What does that mean? HOW do you know it's not the BIOS? What mobo and firmware version are you using? Have you checked to make sure the mobo supports 48bit LBA with the BIOS version you're using?

more info:
mobo is asus p4s533-x, award bios is the latest (rev 1004).

In the bios it is detected as a 32gb. The reason I made the assumption it was not the bios was because in the bios, my maxtor 6E040L0 shows at correct capacity and is larger than 32gb. Checking the 48bit lba support now, thanks for the input.

I know you said you checked the jumpers and everything, but can you make sure that somehow, the 32GB jumper isn't on the hdd.
Also, make sure that the diagram on the drive isn't 'upside down'.

both those points checked and triple checked, no cylinder limit jumper and yes the diagram is upside down but that was something noticed right away.
thanks for the input, please keep trying.

Acronis Disk director?

Can you try the drive in another system just to make sure that you haven't been ripped - haha.
What about trying another drive in that channel?

i am planning to pop the sucka in my roomies computer tonite. Its less than 9mo old and i know the mobo supports sata and pci express, so i guess thats a good start. but, "its a dell, dude". but please, keep giving me ideas and as soon as i get through trying the newest comp in the house, i will post results. But, please keep throwing ideas at me.
