although it doesnt say, staples will usually call them to ask if they are oem and it seems as though they are and if they are staples will not pricematch them anymore...i tried with the maxtor 60 gig 7200 rpm and they said no everytime and i tried like 10 times at different times

Good for Staples...Enough with people taking advantage of
stupid CSRs...Legitimate deals are one thing, but these pricematch
a questionable merchant's OEM drives with the retail ones at
Staples stuff steps over the line. IMHO.

As usual, Kwad is right on.

It's remarkable Staples lets us stack coupons, pricematches, and free shipping the way they do. They even have real live humans (unlike buy.com anymore) who are generally friendly, competant, and interested in solving your problem if you treat them with common courtesy.

Well, this deal will never work online, Staples always charge NEXT DAY shipping... which is like $42 to FL...

"I don't think they're OEMs."

Based on what? Wishful thinking?

Without checking anything, you can be pretty sure they're OEM
just based on the price and the fact that they don't say
retail kit...What? They forgot to mention they're retail
kits? Yeah, I'm waiting for Santa to come, too.

Second, spend a few seconds looking up the part numbers they
list...OEM.

This sucks, it seems 5400 rpm drives are disappearing quick. I was holding out for the maxtor 60 gig to drop to around 100 so I can upgrade my tivo, now I guess I am screwed.

NEVER BUY from GPSComputerCRAP

I also had bought 2 of the 128Mb ram and waited 3 weeks. none came. Called in to cancel the order last week, and still they haven't credited my cc. I called my bank and put it as dispute.

I think the company is a scam. It should be under investigation.

I just resolved a dispuse with GPS as well - finally ended up having to go to my credit card company, and they reversed the charges after GPS failed to answer countless emails.

I was just able to do a successful Staples PM with GPS. Final Price for Maxtor 60Gb 5400RPM = $110 - $20 (off $100 coupon) + $12 shipping + tax = $110. Not bad at all. GPS has Maxtor's product number right on the web page description so Staples was able to confirm very easily. The corresponding Staples SKU# is IM1999957 (Old Anandtech thread on Staples HD's).

This is going straight into my ReplayTV when I get it. Thanks Turtletaper for an excellent find.
