I did this deal and the CSR tells me they have to charge me 16 bucks for next day shipping since compusa didn't offer free shipping. That is weak! So they can only take 4 bucks off!

Remember, always make a copy of everything you send in so you can nail the suckers when they say you didnt send everything in! This situation is a perfect reason to! Thats one of the main reasons i hopped on that buy.com Astra 3400 Scanner/Lexmark Z22 Printer for around $40... scan in all those goodies so i can reprint them if necessary!

For those that got the 40 gig drives but did not get the ATA100 card and would still like to get one, there is now the $20 off $50 coupon again. So you can buy the card and add 2 MSN interent kits for .02 and use the coupon to get the card for $30 plus tax. Then after you send in the rebate you will be $20 ahead to apply towards the purchase of the Hard Drive.

The 80 gig deal (posted by fredder) sounds good however, it is 5200 rpm vs. 7200 rpm of the 40 gig. Does the slower rpm make a lot of difference?

I just received the same invalid postcard saying that I submitted an invalid UPC. Invalid? That is the only bar code in the retail box; it even says PROOF OF PURCHASE.

Luckily, I have a photocopy of the UPC codes for both the HD and the card.

Are they doing these purposely to get as many breakage as possible?

Pissed off.

Cessna, how does the 15 gb/platter DM Plus 45 have a 40.9 gb model? Does it use only part of the last platter or what? I'm confused.

I checked my 40.9 gb maxtor hd and it's the DM Plus 60, how does that compare to the 45? I'm assuiming its better cause of the higher max capacity.

Before sending the rebate out I called Maxtor and they said that I had to send the top part of the UPC. It was kind of confusing because I was about to send the bottom portion that said "Proof of Purchase". What they wanted however was the top part with the barcode #754921025671. I sent mine in a week ago so I guess I'll have to wait and see what happens.

By the way, I got the HD for $119 from Office Depot, and the controller card from Onvia last Dec. for $42 - $10 coupon.

I got screwed on this deal to. Got the infamous postcard back saying I didn't submit a bunch of stuff. So I resent what I could. Phoned them last week and they said I never submitted my UPC. I know I did, unless it was the POP, but don't think so. So I am out $50 now and can't even get the card to work on win2k pro.
