Maxtor 40GB drive $179 at CC ; $149 at Staples after PM and Coupon

The Sunday ad for Circuit City has the retail Maxtor 40GB 7200RPM drive for $179. I pricematched with Staples and used a $30 of $150 coupon I had bringing the price down to $149 before taxes.

Its free shipping too, just tell them about the express pickup option. Instead of having it delivered you can pick it up= no shipping costs.

When staples do a PM for you, they will tack on the 2day or next day shipping charges of the company you're PM, that's why I brought up the free shipping.

pricewatch shows 6 online stores selling the same drive with shipping for less than that $149 price, and remember taxes would probably be $10+, raising it to 10 stores selling for less and you don't even need to go through the hassle of pricematching, coupons, etc.

i realize that some companies on pricewatch stink, but they're not all bad, surly one of those 6 is decent

jhassi, the inexpensive drives you see on PriceWatch are 5400RPM and not 7200RPM. The least expensive Maxtor 40GB 7200RPM drive I see on PriceWatch is $180, and the description doesn't mention whether the drive is retail or OEM.

The 7200 RPM 40 Gig is now $160/free shipping at Staples, Less Coupon is $130. If you can find one of their ULTRA/DMA 100 cards for $50 or Less the rebate on the Maxtor site will give you that free as well.
