Their Maxtor 30GB is $111. Mmmmm, you get the 40GB for $4 more. 10GB for $4, what a hoot.

I've had this drive since it first came out (one year or more, I think). It is excellent for normal usage-games, browsing, CDR burning, etc.-I don't do any DV editing so can't comment. I certainly never noticed any speed issues in real life performance. I think the whole 5400 v. 7200 rpm is overrated.

BTW, I paid a WHOLE lot more for this drive back then-but still think it was an excellent deal. Not even half full, and I don't have to worry about constantly pruning and cleaning HD.

Also, noise and heat levels are low/average. I was always concerned about both these issues if I moved to 7200 rpm. Just like I won't replace my 24X CD-rom because every higher speed CD-rom sounds incredibly noisy and has ridiculous spin-up lag which makes the drive slower in real life use.
