yeah its always good to have virtually a free ata100 card but personally I'd rather just go to CC and PM with BB for $109 and then use the $30 CC rebate (which I still don't know if this is an in store rebate or a coupon code or a print out?) and walk out with the drive for around $85 (w/tax) and not have to worry about all the rebates (except of course for the CC rebate, which I'm not worried about since they have always been good on that).

Its just a matter of preference I guess. But personally, it hurts less to pay about $100 and wait for a $30 rebate, than have to pay about $175 and wait for 2 rebates and have an extra ata100 card that you don't really need.

Whatever floats your boat I guess.

xylo226 - The CC rebate is MIR from CC. The rebate form prints out with the receipt.

Ark - The CC $30 rebate says to send in a copy of the drive UPC. The maxtor rebate for the card requires both original UPC codes.

This is a great deal!

But here's a slight dilemma: I want to get either this drive, or a an 45 GB IBM for $157. Which one should i go with? I'm leaning towards the maxtor cuz i don't think i need that much space, and i get to save a got $50-$60.

Help me out here!!;):)

Quick Question: How do you pricematch the drive at CC? There's no ad with the drive in it, so do they just call over to BB??????

Here's what you should do (i did it):

PM the HDD at Staples, and use the $30 coupon. The drive will then end up being ~$85.

Then get 2 Maxtor (aka Promise) ATA 100 cards and use the $30 coupon again (or w/different code...there are 2 of them). That will end up being ~$75. After rebate it will be $75 - $100 = -$25 (you get back money)!!!

Sub Total ~ $160
Rebates ~ -$100 (two $50 rebates for the ATA 100 cards)
-----------------
Total ~ $60 for a 30 GB, 7200 RPM, ATA 100 HDD, and 2 PCI Maxtor/Promise ATA 100 cards.

VERY HARD to beat this deal. Hell, you could probably sell the extra ATA 100 card and make some money off it!

Bling Bling, the only problem with your deal is the Maxtor rebate is only good for 1 per person, per household etc.

B&M means "brick and mortar", in other words the actual retail store we all can go visit to look at the neat stuff we will buy online using coupons etc.....

Bling Bling: I am surprised you were able to get Staples to PM. I called on Monday (1/22) to find out if the drive was ATA/66 or ATA/100. The CSR I talked to said the drive was ATA/66, and since the drive I was trying to PM it to was ATA/100 (Thus different products) I was denied the PM....

So I just went thru Circuit City.
PM it to $109.97 (Best Buy) - $2(typo on CC's part) then a $30 CC rebate on the way. Its pretty much the same as thru staples.. since both would charge me tax, but the staples way is an instant $30. :D

Well, the BB here (philly area) says they have it for only $129, however, pm with BB at CC and I got 2 drives and 2 controllers for $99 ea (the pair) after mir =D I'm a happy camper - especially since I got the last 2 drives. Was in at lunch yesterday (said they were getting a shipment that morning) the rep said they prolly were on the truck but it wasn't emptied yet and he couldn't get to them. I stopped by later (he did the pm then and ok'd it) and he had held 2 for me - very nice guy!

Now I guess I'll have to figure what to do with the extra controller - if anyone wants to buy it I guess you can email me ;)

DNAPride: Don't call. Go to the store itself. That's what i did.

THis is great! I called BB last week when I first saw this..They have been out of stock and still are today:( But..I stopped by Staples this morning at about 9am. They had them for 149.99 They had both flavors-ata66/100 for same price. I told the manager behind the counter I was going to check out BestBuy cuz they had it for 109.97 but I wasnt sure if it was 66 or 100. He said no prob, he would pricematch the ata100 for 109.97...Great I thought, but BB is sold out! He didnt even call them! He just rang it up. Then later I came home found the $25.00 coupon link, printed it out, went back and they gave the coupon credit too! $84.99 for 30gig ata100 7200rpm drive! You guys are great! THanks again...

Just bought one from BB for 109 here in Alpharetta, GA at the Alpharetta store. They had about 2 drives left after my buying this one. Would have done Circuit City deal but BB is much closer and I'm somewhat lazy :)
