Maxtor 250GB SATA - Doesn't Seem to Boot?

My hard drive was wiped and the partition was removed and re-created. Now I cannot seem to get the hard drive to recognize so I can go through and install XP Pro again. In looking through the ASUS mobo book, I've ensured that I have the right settings.

When booting up I am able to see the SATA drive, but when it actually tries to boot from that drive it fails. I went into the RAID program that is on the BIOS and I can see the drive, but again I cannot seem to get it to recognize.

Tested the drive in another system and no problems with the drive itself.

Help!

Disable RAID support for the controller/connector you are using for single drive operation.

What kind of motherboard you have?

When I got my system originally it came pre-loaded as part of the build process.
In the long run this is what I found out:

In order to install XP on a SATA drive, you must boot the SATA drivers from a boot floppy versus a boot CD. This is a major flaw in the XP installer. To make matters worse, I had to go out and PURCHASE a bloody floppy drive.
