Very hot, but how good are Maxtor drives...

I had one Maxtor ages ago that lasted years and died just before the warranty, 3 or 4 years at the time. was up. They replaced it with no problems. Actually the replacement ws a Colorado drive. Maxtor bought Colorado. Going from memory here. It may have been a Seagate that failed; then Seagate bought Colorado and swaped me out with a Colorado drive. I gave the replacement to a friend and it has not failed in many years.
Second Maxtor (133) I got has been trucking away with no problems.
I noticed in my old case that my WD ATA100 drives made considerably more noise then my ultra-quite Maxtor. I can't notice any sound from my new case other than the fan.
From all the online posts I've seen over the years, for every user who had probs with Maxtor and loves WD, there's a user who had probs with WD and loves Maxtor. I think many may regard Hitachi a little above the two and it seems that everyone loves Seagate and their warranty. I think that's the correct summary.
I've only had the one drive die in over 20-years.
My current Maxtor 60GB/133 is great.
I've noticed that CompUSA branded HD's have been Maxtor OEM in the past.
