The only thing I hate about maxtor now is their warranty.
One of my 160gb PATA Maxtor crapped out on me like 8 days ago.
Now on I'll only go Seagate 5 year warranty and Western Digital OEM 3 year warranty.
It's much more worthwhile in the long run.

This is the 1st HD that crapped out on me EVER.
1 experience is more than enough for me to not go with that brand again.
plus the drive was just past the 1 year mark 🙁

Don't get me wrong. It's a good deal, but the only thing I'd be wary is the 1 year warranty.


 
DO NOT buy this drive if you care about noise. Had one for about a year, the noise from the read/writes almost drove me crazy.

Good price though if you don't care.
 
Very nice drive, as a matter of fact im using this very hd to type this right now. Bought it back in november of last year, haven't had any problems yet. Of course I paid 99.99+tax for it. Im very tempted to purchase another one for extra storage space...

PS: Is this offer available online or can you go to the store to get it as well?

indeed, the drive is pretty noisy though, especially compared to the almost whisper quiet seagates. if your looking to build a silent-pc, look elsewhere.
 
Not to be a crapper, but I've never had anything but trouble with my Max drives. I've had more than one crap out on me.
This is a great deal....... but I personally will never buy another Maxtor drive.

I have two of these. Both are whisper quiet. My 80 GB Seagate is noisier.
 
i've had problems with maxtor drives before, but i've just had a WD1600jd die on me so this is a great replacement.

They have an app that can change the noise levels, would have save you the headache.
