Maxtor 100 GB SATA HD $40 AR

Hopefully, you get your $50 rebate before the one year warranty is up!
(However, don't count on it.)
This is not a thread crap, it is a CrapUSA comment. 😀😀😀

What kinda math did you apply to get that? =P

I got about $0.40/GB, perhaps good for SATA.

Not to mention, a great deal for me, I need some more storage, and I have a good bit of money left over in CompUSA gift cards, from returned stuff, and I haven't used it yet.

I think he meant to say 0.25GB/dime 😉

It's a CompUSA 'e-rebate,' which makes this deal just a teensy bit hotter. 🙂

I'm heading out right now to grab one; it'll be perfect for my new Sempron build.

CompUSA e-rebates are actually VERY convinient. You sign into your account, enter the receipt number, store number and date/time, and the purchase "magically" appears in the listing on screen.

After 21 days from the purchase date, the rebate gets approved (naturally, if you take the product back within 21 days, you don't get the rebate, and they can keep track of this w/o the UPC). in 10-12 weeks, you get the money.

$39.99 + tax is not a bad deal for a small drive. Small drives aren't as good in cost per gigabyte, and there's about a $10-$15 SATA premium across the board. $0.40/GB isn't "good for SATA" - you can get SATA Seagates from Fry's for $0.33/gb on a semi-regular basis, but $40 is good for a SATA hard drive, period.

Since there's no Fry's here in Michigan, this is about as good as it gets for a B&M deal.
