Maxing out CPUs & GPU's for max res....

Seeing the results of the heavily CPU limited 7800GTX, i am just curious. nowadays, what cards have similar limits to what CPUs?

For cost efficiency, what rig would get the most out of both the CPU and GPU?

I'm not asking about actual performance, just what togehter would push them both to their limits while gaming?

I am just asking this out of curiousity, so i was thinking like

X800 pro maxes out itself about when the P4 3c processor reaches its limit

(I think in asking this though, i need a CPU-limited game to use as a standard across? so maybe HL2?)

3500+: 74.1
3000+: 69.8

1280x1024 4xAA 16xAF
6800GT
FX-57: 57.8
3500+: 56.8
3000+: 55.7


3000+/6800GT and 3500+/7800GTX seem to be good fit for this game.
