maxing at 100fps in q3a

I have an athlon xp 2000+ and a radeon 9700 (sucessfully softmodded 9500)....

I notice that while playing in games, q3a maxes out at 100fps for me... it wont go above that. In time demos, I get 300+ fps.

Is this typical?

oh yea, the resolution is 1280, but i dont think that matters in this case... since even at 1600 i get higher framerates in timedemos.

dammit... this is what happens when you fall out of the gaming loop... you forget about stuff like that. That was it.

Do you recommend it being on or off?

I have it on for me cause I don't think u can notice anythign faster than 100fps lol plus it helps get ride of some horizontal tearing.

Thanks for your help JB

There's also a command you can type in the console: /com_maxfps - you can set the maximum FPS that Quake will show. Not sure it's the same as vsync.
