Important factor is what the battery is to be used in/for. Please explain, what battery for what purpose. If it is for a mobile device or gadget, you are in the right forum. If not, you may be moved. The current answer to your question is, it all depends.

I just pulled a coin battery out of a desktop and it read 0.56 volts. Definitely a dead battery! A good battery should read 3.15V or higher. An acceptable battery would be around 2.9V
