i would say 70c,but that all depends on the board,some boards are not very accurate.

Why exactly is Intel bad? In general, it's a fairly nice company. Nice people. My co-workers are all generally a fairly decent bunch.

To answer the question though, in general CMOS silicon on a C4/BGA package encounters permanent damage in the 120C range measured on the package. It depends a bit on the manufacturer and what they are using for top-level passivation and the resin used in the bumps below the package... depending on the recipe, the limit can be hotter or cooler than this.

Most manufacturers try to stay under 70C for long term reliability reasons. Above 70C, the chips are no-longer rated for long-term reliability goals at the rated voltage.

I keep mine under 60C of course this limits my overclock without better cooling. Newcastles aren't bad, but they are not the greatest overclockers.
