Maximum supported resolution X850XT?

I just ordered a Acer Al2416WD SLV 24inch LCD and am wondering if my Gecube X850XT Vivo can support its native resolution of 1920 x 1200? Could connecting the monitor to the vid card by VGA or DVI affect what resolution can be produced?

VGA can go higher than DVI, but your card will support 1920x1200 on both. DVI is definitely preferable on an LCD at that resolution.

yah, that's the problem with these widescreens. you buy a new monitor and pretty soon you're buying a new GPU. haha, oh well.

Depends of which games, there's plenty of games like Far Cry and Half Life 2: Episode 1 that can be played at 1600x1200 with 4x Anti Aliasing, probably at the resolution of 1920x1200, will have to turn down the anti aliasing and some image quality cause at that resolution, games like F.E.A.R. will tend to suck a lot of VRAM. http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleid=2046&page=6

Card can do a resolution of 2560x1600 (maybe even higher) but you gonna have a hard time finding a game it can run fast enough at that resolution.

Should be no problem with running your monitor but might not be fast enough for the games.

Heck, even an old Geforce 2 could do a resolution of 2048x1536.

Single-channel DVI is limited to 1920x1200, even further down if the card has signal integrity issues (which ATI's cards typically don't have).

Thus, no problem to be expected here.
