And if the Chinese can falsify the birth records of their gymnasts, we can use the LZR RACER.

The problem is not every team can pay for every individual to have one, especially if it's supposed to be replaced every 10th race. However, it's kinda like NASCAR. Everyone has different cars, engine mods, etc. I'm sure it's not that hard for a professional racer to get $500 for a suit. Also, Michael Phelps has raced several times without this suit and has still CRUSHED world records.

The commentators said speedo supplies them to Olympic athletes for free.

Some of the athletes cannot wear the suits do to contractual obligations to sponsors that are rivals of Speedo.

I remember one swimmer (from China I think?) that was wearing the suit but had a piece of gray duct tape over the Speedo logo

I would assume only athletes they sponsor

duct tape fixes everything....even possible breaches of contracts.

Incorrect, every swimmer was offered free suits. As people have posted, only those with competeing contracts from other companies were unable to wear them because of their contract obligations.

Worse, many teams and individual swimmers have contractual obligations which bar them from wearing the Racer. According to some, this gives an unfair competitive advantage. Alberto Castagnetti, coach of the Italian swim team -- which wears a rival brand -- calls the suit "technological doping". Australian coach Forbes Carlisle has written an open letter calling for it to be banned outright.

Yeah, must suck that you took money from the 2nd rate company and getting your ass kicked cause of it.
