The reason why the wouldn't get rid of the 2nd drive cage is because even if they took the quickrelease cage itself out, the support shelf would still be there. This would be ugly as sin and prevent the second fan holder from being able to go in. This self is held in by rivets so the amount of time that it would take to remove it would make it not worth it.

Hagbard: As I mentioned we did get the e-mail, and I sent it to our Tech's and talked to our tech Supervisor. They claimed they sent you a response (one even remembers talking to you previous to the e-mail you sent me). I'll check with them again.

dcdomain, the issue was the Nov/2000 issue and it scored a scorching 8...the same as it's younger bro, the 830 scored. Their main quibble was with the unattractive looks and yet again the lack of a front fan filter.

I can hear everyone jumping to the aid of their "unattractive" case saying, "but our case rulez." Face it though, compared to the likes of the Coolermaster atc-200, FS020 and the Genie series the SX1030 and 830 lack that sweet sexual appeal:p

I just had an email from someone in your tech support, though all the did was ask me if there was a problem...that is...they didn't reply to any letters I sent. I'm posting my reply under the heading "hagbard" in this forum.

I wonder who provides their sponsor money...

As for holding stocking material on a fan: it ain't pretty, but rubber bands work great and you can get some pretty good thick ones that last longer. Make sure you vacuum off your 'screens' occasionally as they can build up dust and such pretty quickly, impeding air flow even more and causing more noise from the fan.

I am a big fan of these Antec SX series cases, too, despite my particularly picky engineering mind. My older Antec KS-188 ATX also came with the optional 300W PP303X and it has a slideout tray... a feature I have had use for only a couple of times. The sliding part has to be done carefully to make sure it tracks smoothly. After building several systems in an SX830 and some SX1030s, I am really pleased with Antec.

I have contacted Antec customer service several times, by fax and by their toll-free phone number, for their free I/O panel and they were very responsive.

Well, you see Missing Link, you HAVE a toll free number you can call...I don't. Four emails, zero replies over a one month period. Then after its too late to send it back to my dealer, they finally send me an email saying its bad and send for an RMA. Screw it. If they they're going to replace it, they know where I live and they have my number (which was sent with every email). If you live outside of the US, don't buy Antec (or call their 800 number first..ho..ho..ho).

RagingGuardian thanks for digging the rating up... oh well, 8's a good number in the Chinese culture (trying to dig for positives here) so I guess I'll leave it at that. :D

The quick-release handle side panel on the SX-830 alone should help the case to rate at least 9 stars. After having the sx-830 for a couple of weeks now, i don't think i would be able to stand the thought of having to go back to using my old In-Win A500 case. This case absolutely rocks.

As an update to my Antec power supply saga, Antec called me and left a message on my answering machine on Friday saying they're going to send out a new power supply, no obligation. I sent them my address again, as requested, and now I'll wait and see what results.
