maximum amount of ram allowed?

Hi all,

I have an ASUS N90 notebook with 2x2GB RAM and I've read several places that 4GB is the maximum possible...

I wanted to switch them out for 2x4GB to get a little boost but I'm hesitant to just blow the money in vain... is there any good reason why this laptop might not support more than 4GB RAM, I find it kinda weird...

Thanks! 🙂

i think it might work, just 4gb dimms are not that common. I know on some machines the chipset is a limiteation like 945GM based machines (original macbooks for example could only see like 3.25 gb becuase of a chipset issue).

I remember my coworker and i tried 2 x 4gb in a macbook pro with the 965gm and it sort of worked and was a bit flakey. I tried 8gb in a sodimm using ITX board with AMD cpu and it worke dfine...

i'd say its good odds itll work for you though if your chiset is 965 or up.
