Maximizing Zenbook UX31 battery life

Hello,

I've just bought an Asus UX31 Zenbook and I'm wondering what's the best charge&use strategy to maximize the lifespan of the battery. I'm standing between two options:
1. Fully charge, and after that use the device until it's fully empty (full charge/discharge cycles).
2. Always connect the charger on when possible, even when the battery is full.

I would love to have my battery stand the test of time as long as possible. Also, is it better to have the laptop in sleep or in full shut down. Is the small power leak in sleep mode more harmful than the one in halt?

Thanks for the quick answer. However, sorry if the title may be a little misleading, I was asking advice on how to charge/discharge the laptop so, let's say after an year, the battery won't degrade too much.
