Hey, got a quick question that's been bugging me for a long time. Let's say that I'm browsing (IE) and I click a link that opens a new browser window. This window doesn't open fully maximized. It's nearly full-size, but not quite. I know there has to be a way to make it open fully maximized. Anyone know how to do this? Thanks.

Someone had a similar question about a month back. I think they came to the conclusion that it is impossible.

If you hold down the shift button as you close the window, it is SUPPOSED to make windows understand that you want the future windows of that application to open at that size. Usually works, but sometimes windows is just dumb.

UPDATE: Well, I can't get that to work at all.. I swear that it used to work:) Oh well.. I know there HAS to be a way...

I have seen a program that will reside in the systray that automatically maximizes new IE windows. As far as I know it's the only way to do this, and it has the side effect of maximizing any java pop-up windows as well. You'd think there would be an easy way to do this (along with turning images off in OE, grrr).

I could have sworn that if you closed IE maximized that future windows would open maximized, at least that is the way it is for me (running XP atm).

I don't think it can be done.

I use alt-spacebar, X. It's quicker than maximizing with the mouse.

This is true except for shift-clicking a link or right-clicking and opening in a new window. I got so fed up with it I bought a 5 button mouse just so I could assign a button to maximize window.
