Maximize/minimize windows from taskbar?

I can't seem to maximize/minimize any windows from the taskbar. What gives?

are the menu items there but grayed out?

I can maximize/minimize by using the appropriate buttons in the top right-hand corner, and right-clicking the window works as well, but when I attempt to left-click the window on the taskbar it does not maximize or minimize.

Nevermind, I figured it out. It was a menu transitions setting.
