I got a small cycle from Maxey's at the beginning of the summer and I've been continually impressed with their service. The thing itself is nothing spectacular, it's the black 150 in the pic in my sig, but they came down to $1800 from a sticker of $2500 when we told them I was looking for something better than my poor beat up 50 but were looking for something around $1500. Yeah, you could say we were suckered into paying $300 more than we wanted, but both Dad and I saw it as getting 1K more bike for $300. The thing is fairly large, has a decent windshield, gets 65mph, does 55mph easily, and is very nice overall.

There have been several small things they've been very helpful with (non-stock mirrors that are more adjustable, replacing a crummy cheap luggage box that rattled apart, replacing the cheap factory battery), but those aren't what made me take the time to post here. One mid-summer on a busy day around lunchtime, some screwball (there are too many to count on 39th around lunchtime) made a line of about five cars panic-stop on in a 40mph zone, I was unfortunate enough to lock my front wheel up which laid the bike over in a hurry. I was really more mad than hurt, I sprained a wrist and tore a hole in the knee of my jeans, not to mention lost my sunglasses :|, but the bike looked worse than I did with scrapes all along the side and a fairly large dent in the muffler. I also found that the two right side blinker lenses had been knocked loose, so loose that the rear one soon rattled out and was lost. It took a while, but Maxey's got a lens for me by pulling it off a bike they were trying to rebuild (the only other way was to buy an entire new assembly from the factory for $130).

Fast forward to two days ago, I come out of work to notice the muffler hanging way off to the side, two welds had finally failed after (apparantly) being weakened when most of the bike's weight landed on the muffler. So I drove it to Maxey's, where it was discovered that the obnoxiously loud exhaust wasn't a hole in the muffler like I thought, but the entire thing had broken off at the header, and there was only one loose bolt keeping the thing from falling off completely. There were two bolts broken off inside the headers, and they said it would take at least a week to get that taken care of. So, today I got a call that it was ready to pick up, they got both bolt halves out and the mechanic had spent most of the previous evening putting together a custom (and significantly louder :)) muffler for me. Granted, the new one isn't too pretty or shiney, but it only cost me forty bucks, it sounds good, and is a lot smaller and tucked out of the way so it isn't too noticable.

Cliffs: A++ for being more than reasonable and doing more than is simply necessary, I definately recommend them whether you're interested in a scooter or a real cycle.

Oh come on, I know there has to be more than 25 ATOTers in the area. Or maybe you all were out having fun on a friday night instead of being shut up in your room all day like me :( :p
