Hello, need a lil hand overclocking the beast!

What's the maximum recommened voltage when overclocking a 4400+? I'm looking to get 2.8ghz on air using an Arctic Pro 64 Cooler. I've got it running at 2.7ghz, not going above 40c under full load so i'm sure 2.8ghz is obtainable on air. That's provding the beast will let me!

Much appreciated

Your going to get all sorts of answers on this one. I wont got above 1.45 on mine but Im on the safe side. I wouldnt ever reccomend anyone going over 1.5 with a x2 but again thats up to you.

Hi there. I don't have a dual core chip, but my single core chip flips out around 49C load and throws errors. On air, I would be reluctant to put more than 1.6v into it. You're gonna have to watch your temps though. If you're breaking 50C on less than 1.6v - you may want to back down. I'd personally be shooting for whatever clock speed and voltage I could get with a max load in the mid 40s.

Just start adding voltage - SLOWLY - and see where it takes you.

My personal - and others may tell you different - personal recommendations for Venice/San Diegos would be:

Air - 1.6v max or 45C load
Water - 1.65-1.7v max or 45C load
Phase/cascade/sub-zero - Nobody with a setup like this needs advice on what volts are safe.

Dual cores use less voltage than single cores. If you go to 1.6v can I have the cpu when it dies. I bet I wont have to wait to long.

1.6V on air and 45C load? What kind of air are you talking about?

For the OP: If you can't get 2.8GHz under 1.5V, chances are you won't get it with even higher vcore, using air-cooling - due to heat. So yeah for top of line air-cooling I'd give 1.5V max for X2s. I'm pretty sure you'll hit at least 2.7~2.8GHz.
