Well i initially wasn't planning on overclocking my new rig...but you know how it works. Gotta have more speed. For now I'm using the stock heatsink, but it's running quite cool at 32C idle and 41-42C load....all at 1.55 volts.

What is the max vcore an A64 can take...and what is a safe number to use for everyday use?

that's a good question....

i'm runing mine at 1.82 volts right now... since yesterday... :)

vcore modded my board and i'm still at or around 2.6 ghz...

might have to get a new chip to see if i can get more :)

but these a64's are expensive!!! hehehe....

You sure it's not the lack of agp/pci lock that's limiting your OC?

i feel bad.. i feel like i'm hjacking this thread....

i tried 1.85 volts and 2650 and i got an error in prime in about 4 minutes.

it runs boots and does everything..

i really doubt its the lack of a pci lock (my board has an agp lock)

Jeff- as for benches... I REALLY want to try to get my ram to run 1:1 260 mhz 2-2-2-6 if all possible! :)

but my ram is limited to about 250 1:1 2-2-2-6 with 3.4 volts...

maybe i can try 3.5 and see if i can get up to 260 just for benching purposes! :)

right now i have to use a 5:6 divider to run at 2600.

i'll do benches at the end of this week! i have lots of stuff to do until wdnesday... so maybe after wednesday :)

I have heard on another forum that A64s were dying from too much vdimm voltage. Something about the integrated memory controller not being able to take much voltage.

yes this is true :)

hence why if i raised it to 3.5 it'd only be for benching purposes then back down to what i have it after i'm done :)
