Max USB extention cable length for adapter?

What is the maximum length of USB extension cable I can use between a USB wireless adapter and the PC it's connecting to?

I've got a wireless-G router at one end of a very, very long hall. If I stand out in the hall I get great reception, but if I walk into my room I get nothing. I'm buying one of these wireless-N adapters: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16833166056 to mount out in the hall, but it will require using about 30' of USB extension cord between it and my laptop.

Will that create any problems?

Sorry, folks, it's still early for me. My Google-Fu kicked in and I answered my own question: 3m without any power, 5m with. Amirite?

I've gone to 15 ft (which made the total wire length much longer than 15 ft) without additional power, but YMMV.

Unpowered USB is supposed to max out at 5 m (16.5 ft).

Avoid going over 16 feet if you can, even with powered gear you can get into trouble (like delayed write fails and such). You can get away with stupid things like mice and such, I used to use 25ft+ worth of extensions for my htpc.
