Look I am usually not one to criticize MaxPC...but....

Look at that butt ugly PC.....
Cmon that green colored plastic is just not attractive its down right ugly!!

Look at those flat cables they are well old fashioned and in the way of everything!!
Not COOL!!

You would think a company like Dell would have used all rounded cables!
Whats a few extra $$$ when your already paying $4,000.00 fort a system??

And to top that off Dell uses a p4--3.8Ghz......hmmmmmm'

Anyways I looked in the dictionary under the word "UGLY" they referent me to this website--http://www1.us.dell.com/content/product...spx/dimen_xps600?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs

Round cables can have an issue with data corruption. With enough errors, Windows will decrease the transfer rate of your drives; *Edit* I meant DMA settings, DMA 5, 4, etc*Edit* down to PIO or the level at which errors stop occurring, which ever happens first. This is done behind the users back. You have to manually check the IDE channel to see what your drive is running at, and delete it to go back up to your original transfer rate.

Flat cables don't have this problem. Also, you can fold them neatly so they inhibit airflow less and look cooler as a wiring job compared to rounded cables. And they're cheaper as well.

ATA133, ATA100 and ATA66 cables (Ultra DMA 66/100/133) use 80 conductor cable with 40 pin connectors. This provides superior signal integrity by placing ground lines between all data and signal lines. Using this type of cable is considered the only way to reach the 66MBps, 100MBps, and 133MBps maximum data rates of ATA66, ATA100 ATA133 respectively. The specified maximum cable length for both ATA66, ATA100 and ATA133 is 18 inches. Using longer lengths can eventually lead to data corruption despite the excellent CRC checking done in Ultra DMA mode. Use cables longer than 18 inches at your own risk! Many users report having no problems using 24 inch cables (even 36 inches!) for ATA66, ATA100 and even ATA133, but it is not highly recommended. Occasionally a CRC calculation could pass even with some amount of data corruption, and occasionally this could be important data, so if your data is very important the less chances you take, the better!

Best advice I can give is to just not support the mag. The editors are just bias and ignorant.

Way to provide 5 year old links to back up your claim. You do realize that the staff of M PC has changed over numerous times since then?

As per the OP, I don't think that system looks all that bad. Flat cables are cheaper and overall more reliable than rounded cables, issues that matter to a company pumping out millions of units. Dell is an Intel only outlet - if you don't like it take your money elsewhere. And for all of the Intel hating, their chips aren't all that bad. AMD makes what I consider to be a better desktop CPU at the moment, but they can't supply a vendor as large as Dell with the quantities that they need at this time.

Doesn`t matter how you gloss things over that computer case is just butt ass ugly!!

There once was a time when flat cables were more reliable than rounded ones that time has come and gone!!
