I was thinking of buying it. What do you think about it? Is it a good game? And why (not)?

It's a good game. It's only drawback is it's somewhat short. Graphics and gameplay are awesome though, as well as the plot.

Do a "search" in the archives. I'd say 90% of the people who played it really liked it.

I like it and am in fact replaying it (my 8500 displays much better grapics with AA and AF 'enabled' that my old Radeon 64 couldn't handle).

Plusses - graphics; storyline (it's like playing a movie); bullet time and gameplay.

Minuses - it's "linear" and somewhat short.

I agree. Great game, but short and linear.

I imagine it can be picked up for cheap these days, since its been out for a while.

one thing to note, I originally was playing it on my P3-500.. it was fun, but I had to turn alot of graphics options down. On my new P4 it was absolutely stunning though... and I finished the final half shortly after.

was just searching for some cheats or add-ons for this game and found this thread, yeah compusa has it for 4.99 + tax these few days. good luck.

ppl say the game is short, so do you like throw the game away after you are done? or can it be played over and over? i mean is it like doom style shooting against ppl? or you have to play the story and it just gets boring after the first 2 or 3 times?

To me it was worth playing on the harder difficulty modes. It was short to me, but it didn't feel that short. It is probably around 6-8 hrs which assuming you've seen the recent shorter games like MOHAA is no big deal.

I think you can play through it at least twice non-stop before needing a break.

Max Payne is a very fun game.. i'd take medal of honor over it though.. it is simply amazing

Max Payne has the best story ever in a shooter. It really draws you in much like a movie does. I highly recommend it.

lol, the story was pretty bad IMO, but because of the cliches, it made it pretty funny...Overall, it was one of the most fun games I have ever played, and bulet time doesnt get old like I thought it would....every seen (expecially in the later office levels when you have cool weapons) is like a movei, my brother and I would just reload sections to play them over and try new things....defintiely worth it imo
