I cannot run Max Payne on my PC. I think it is a problem with my graphics card drivers. Is this correct? I really need to play this game!
Apparently a lot of people have this problem? How can I sort it out?

I have nothing "overclocked" its just "under-ventilated"

I have 2 80 and a 120 all intake, no extract. Could that have anything to do with it?

Hit the dumb ass who did it :D and put the top 80mm at the back on Extract so it extracts HOT air from the case :D and BUY A NEW Heatsink that will lower the temp of the CPU. i surgest a Zalman Copper Flower as they are quiet and very reliable. and mayb change the 92mm fan on the zalmon to a 120mm fan that is what i did and mine is running at around 35~c on load :D but i also have 5 Fans in my case all set up to make the best air circulation around my case :D

OK I will hit him, and where can I get a Copper Flower from?
Are they hard to fit?
Can I buy them from a retail outlet rather than online?
Is it just a regular 92mm fan that can be easily replaced with a 120mm?
Did I mention my 120 is an Enermax fan acting on my HDD?:D

right then....

ummm

they are really EASY to fit if you have the time to be doing it.

yes you can buy them from most Computer Retailers

and yes it is a normal 92 that can be easily repaced with a 120 :D

Umm, sorry to disturb the friendly atmosphere in here ;), but I seriusly doubt his cpu temp is the problem. A cpu-temp of 47 is acceptable for a 1800+ I agree though that the fan in teh back of the case should be turned around so it exhausts air.

What exactly is the problem with Max Payne? Does it give some kind of error-message when you run it, is it choppy, etc.
What Detonator-version (nVidias gfx-card drivers) do you use btw.

i agree that the temp is hardly the problem here. i run 51/55 on an oc'ed xp1600 @ 1731 and it is fully tested no errors and stable. over heating usually gives you some kinda servere error, like the system reboots randomly, total lock up etc. vid card hang ups are usually seen on tell tale signs of video display then it can lock up or reboot. also check your sound config. and then lastly your OS. i just bought the game yesterday, hopefully i'll have some time to test it in a day or 2.

If you have XP, have you done the fix you need? It says in the readme you need a little fix for it to work properly afaik. I have win 2k and it crashes when trying to load act 1 part 2, so I can't get any further :(.
Have you tried 3d Mark 2001? One of the demos in it uses Max Payne technology, and that coul dshow if your card is OK with the engine (it should be, and Geforce cards by the same count might be ideal for Max Payne since the drivers are optimized for 3d mark).
Anyway, bug fix for Xp might help.
