max payne errors, help!

Every once in a while I open max payne and right when i hit play in windows, in turns black and then kicks me back out to windows with this error. I installed DX 8 and re-installed the 21.81's. This is on my 1ghz tbird w/ A7V and tnt2 m64. But once I reboot, it will work fine. And when i exit and want to play again, there it pops up again. So basically, i have to reboot every time i want to play. Any ideas?

Have you installed the latest patch for the game? It's supposed to fix the getting booted back to the desktop problem.....not sure if it's exactly the same problem you're having though.
