So can I activate the GMG version on Steam? I have a $10 GMG coupon from when I bought Xcom but I gotta be able to get it into steam. It says it requires Capsule client so I'm thinking I'd have to use this instead of dl'ing on steam.

I don't think so. Seems like I ready that only Amazon sells MP3 steam keys.

Looking at the GMG page, I see no mention of Steam.

It's a Rockstar game, so you have to have a Rockstar Social Club account or w/e the hell it's called to activate it... that's also why it doesn't activate on steam unless you buy it there (or apparently Amazon).

So there's the Social Club for Rockstar, Origin for EA, U-play for Ubisoft, Games for Windows Live, and of course Steam. That's at least 5 different accounts you need to have to cover the gamut of PC games. It wouldn't be a big deal except that there's no way I'm autostarting those all, so unless it was purchased through steam I don't get updates automatically. So when I go to play MP3 from a longer break I'm reminded it needs to patch first and now I'm waiting for all the patches I've missed.

Bought it on steam. Crashes all the time! Glad I didn't pay full price for it.

uplay and social club aren't apps that are always running like steam or origin. at least not uplay anyway. been awhile since I played GTA 4 (only game I have with social club). I don't think GFW is always on either, but haven't used a game with that for a long time either.

U-play isn't always required to be online (anymore) but it IS a separate program that needs to be installed to activate and run the game. If I click on the Assassin's Creed 3 executable, it'll automatically boot U-play and make me launch it from there. There might be a work around to that but it acts just like a steamworks game in this regard. If U-play isn't running it'll boot it for you, and when it boots it checks for updates like Steam.

The Social Club OTOH is just an account you need to create... no extra installation necessary. The updater is built into the game itself and it checks during launch of that game.

Same!

There is a bunch of little DLC for it. Any of it worth it? LOL that I have to pay $0.24 to carry more 'killers. But I do haha. Like with Deux Ex there was this little DLC that started you with some good weapons and money. Fuck yeah!

Add to that Kalypso for Tropico 4 and w/e else. Not a big deal, but makes you have another stupid account.
