Max Payne 2 Performance on Geforce 3?

I just bought MP2 yesterday and I'm wondering how well I can run the game on my Geforce 3.
System Specs:
P4 1.8A o/c 2.7GHZ
Geforce 3 @240/550
512 DDR 433 ram

Would i be able to run the game at 1024 x 864 32bit (no FSAA or AF)?

mine runs perfectly smoothly on a geforce 3. Max payne 2 1024x768 2xaa and af
Athlon @ 2.3ghz
Geforce 3 @ 220/490
latest 52.16

Well, Driver Heaven was pulling 60+ fps with a 5700U (with XP2600+) on MP2 at 10x7. I guess you can expect around 30fps or more average on your system. That should be decently playable. This is a total guess, though, and I suspect your GF3 just might be able to swing 40fps, judging by its fillrate.

Edit: Whoops, link.

If an FX 5700U gets 60 fps, I'd expect more than 30fps for a GF3 Ti. It should run Max Payne quite well.

I run at a frame rate where I can see no slowdown most of the time on my Radeon 8500, which is probably around 40 or 50 fps, and Geforce3 shouldn't be much different.

EDIT: I run at 1280x960 with all settings at max, AA off.

Totally smooth here 1024x768 4xFSAA, 8xAA, low detail shadows, maximum detail otherwise.
GF3 + CeleronT 1300MHz. W00T.

If you already bought it why not just try it out and see how it does? 🙂

The game does run well on most video cards though. I see no reason why it wouldn't run at 10x7 on your system.

there was 8xAA back in the GF3 days? I always thought it was 4xAA 4xAF... but then again I haven't used an nVidia card since the FX5600U so I dunno about driver updates.

Uh..I don't even have 8xAA on my gf4, so that must be a typo.

I think he meant 4XFSAA and 8X AF. I have both of those on my GF3

Also, I don't remember running Max Payne 1 on my GF4 Ti4400 smoothly with 4xAA and 4xAF... another typo? 😉

FX5600 Ultra
2.4c P4
512mb DDR400

Runs fine @1280x1024 on default high mode without AA/AF on. With AA/AF enabled, performance is a bit less smooth but very playable. (Only fire scenes does the card take a serious hit). I'd imagine your performance should be fast enough to play without getting annoyed or sea sick.

T-Bird 1.2 Ghz
256 MB SDRAM (PC100)
Geforce 2 GTS 32 MB

Ran just fine in 1024x768@32bit with only an occasional slow down.
