intel has this processor for a maximum 16bg in 2 channel

since the mem controller is at the cpu any more

try the memory selector at crucial.com. if you buy from them they guarantee it will work, so no restocking fee if they ever mess up.

manufacturers set the limit, not Intel. Lenovo had a history of this as well... they design the bios and some of their limits were bios/firmware limited. Crucial.com can be an accurate bet though.

what if my laptop is not listed in the crusial site?? damn i can not even find it at hp site any more. it apperas at google search but when i click it page has mooved or somethign error lol.
but the store i bought is also sells it in 8 gb variant
so is it safe to assume 8 gb memory?
worse case scenario? buy 2x4gb module and i will anable dual channel memory but i will see 6???

i went with gample so i ordered 2x4giga memory to make use of the dual channel memory.
despite that hp manual said 6 giga?!?!!? how on earth hp limtis max mem to 6!?!?!?
the bios show the 8g and so did win7
so all is good :)
so how beter will be the igpu of the i3-2330m???
aince the integrated gpu are mem sensitives :)
so it was an overall improvement to the system
cpu boost 15% thats thw gain from single channel to dual channel??
and a healthier boost at gpu i imagine or the gpu is too pooor

according to passmark 7.0 x64 test
going from single channel to dual channel
graphics 3d simple
single 200.9 -43.3%
dual 354.1
graphics 3d medium
single 75.3 -41.5%
dual 128.7
graphics 3d complex
single 30.1 -18.3%
dual 36.8
graphics 3d directx 10
single 4.74 -7.9%
dual 5.1

so the dual cahnnel was a healthy boast for the gpu part
even at 2d it show some improvement
graphics 2d fonts and text
single 188.7 -7.1%
dual 203.2
graphics 2d windows interface
single 89.0 -4.4%
dual 93.0
graphics 2d image filters
single 245.3 -4.5%
dual 256.8

at rest of the 2d test it was even or diference of 1%

at spu level
cpu physics
single 174.6 -8.0%
dual 189.8
cpu strign sorting
single 2048.2 -4.7%
dual 2148.4

at rest of the test the diference was 0.5%

how on earth hp limtis max mem to 6!?!?!?

with some older systems, it was not uncommon for the first memory stick to be soldered onto the motherboard (desktop/laptop) to save costs. but if you can remove it, then the max limit is probably just HP trying to make the upgrade process smooth as you keep the known good ram stick.

thank i had forgoten about the soldering of components to save money or to cut flexibility???

one new question now
if i apply new tim on the laptop
thinking of ICD24
will it worth the trouble of taking apart and reassempling the mainboard?
will i see any diferense? is it there any custon coling system i can use?

almost every laptop I've had stated x max memory and I've been able to put in 2x.

Inspiron 8200 max was 1gb, lots put 2gb
Tecra m5, max was 2gb, put in 4gb
T61 max was 4gb, put in 8gb

Mostly it was because when the laptops came out the bigger memory modules weren't mainstream.

I ran into this on a Dell E6520 that a user wanted 16GB in. Dell only certified it for 8GB and the reason was simple. That was a business Laptop and not a workstation replacement laptop. Their Precision line that uses the same mobo, but adds an true Quadro vid card (instead of these randomly named Geforce cards), was certified for 16GB.

Most of the time that you see that kind of limit or the lack of OEM suggested upgrades (HDD for example). Its because those step ups are targeted for another lineup of computer and they want people who to protect from future warranty issues to go to the other (more expensive generally) lineup.
