Max memory per dimm skylake s

Hi everyone,

I was very disappointed to learn that the Haswell memory controller limited the maximum size of each DIMM, making my otherwise excellent itx-build max out at 16G even though larger DIMMs existed.

I can't find ANY indication of maximum memory size in the available skylake material. Granted, googling it is swamped by the (for me) largely irrelevant DDR3/4 hits.

Thanks.

Desktop Skylake is supposed to be able to run Buffered/Registered DDR4 modules (LGA 1150 Haswell Core iX/Xeons E3 can not do Buffered DDR3), greatly increasing possible RAM capacity. I recall hearing that 128 GB should be possible with 4x 32 GB Buffered DDR4 modules. However, RAM cost should greatly outweight the price of the Processor and Motherboard in such scenario, so if you do need 128 GB RAM, the extra cost of the LGA 2011 wouldn't be that much anyways.
