Hey all,

Just curious if I'll run into any issues using 3tb or 4tb drives on a box with a 690g chipset?

Well, does it have a UEFI bios? I think it probably doesn't. So that means, that you cannot boot off of a HD that is larger than 2TB.

However, with OS support, your OS can handle drives larger than 2TB as data-only drives.

Ah thanks for clearing that up. I'll have to buy a 3/4tb drive and see if alls well. I'll be booking off an SSD.

Thanks!

Don't forget, when Windows asks to "Initialize" the drive, choose GPT, to utilize the full capacity of the drive.

If it doesn't offer you the choice of GPT, then something is wrong, or your OS doesn't support it.

Windows 7 supports GPT for certain. I am unsure about other prior Windows OSes.

It's Win7 Enterprise on the box right now so I'll use GTP after installing the drive.

I'm still waiting on Win8 to be released and Storage Spaces to prove its reliability or I'll have to drop the cash on a decent raid card.

Thanks for the info guys.
