MAX FSB ACHIEVABLE???????????

I am building a new system.
Asus A7M266 Motherboard
1Ghz Thunderbird (200mhz fsb)
PC1600 DDR SDRAM
GeForce2 GTS DDR 32mb (don't know which company yet)
onboard audio
ata/100 40GB 7200rpm harddrive (don't know which brand)

What would you guys expect the MAX FSB I can get out of this kind of system without crashing the harddrive or video card....or any other components using good cooler like Alpha PAL-6035 and pc coolers.

Will the PC1600 memory limit max fsb??

Also, the current revision of this board will not let you adjust the clock multiplier, so it has to be done using 1mhz increments fsb.

Hmm... I doubt that your T-Bird will do 10x133, even if the RAM will do the higher FSB... For a hard drive I would suggest either the Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 40 series of drives or the IBM Deskstar 75GXP. Those should both be able to handle a 40MHz PCI bus... I think that it will be either your memory or processor that will limit you, but the only way you'll be able to find out what you can do is to try it out, there isn't really a way to tell beforehand how something will overclock.

P.S. With a system like that, I would seriously consider a 64MB GF2, if not a GF2 Pro-based card. In any case, Hercules is good 🙂

Will the Geforce2 GTS 64mb or 32mb DDR be able to handle the high fsb bus????

Is PC1600 available in CAS Latency of 2 or 2.5 or both??

I am also considering if i should buy this board. You can change FSB frequency, Vcore and Vio but not CPU clock multiplier, as the motherboard did not get shipped with the dip-switches!

How ever i think u can solder on dip-switches, therefore allowing u to play around with it more! However im not sure! Please post a message if anyone knows!

Well I ordered it and it will come in shortly...they say a week or two because it is on backorder.
I'll see then if I can solder on the switches but I HIGHLY DOUBT IT.....
