Max encryption allowed by US law?

JEDI

years ago there was 1024bit encryption created by PGP.

PGP got bought out and i havent heard any encryption advances since.

anyone know if 2048+ bit encryption is out or not?

There's no law against using any key length encryption you want. There is 2048 bit encryption, however it is massive overkill. 128bit AES is all you really need. For a far far better explanation than I could ever give, listen to the crypto set of Security Now podcasts, http://www.grc.com/SecurityNow.htm There's eight podcasts covering the subject. Should answer every question you could ever have.
