Does anyone know what the maximum resolution on a Sapphire RADEON 7000 32MB PCI when using the DVI interface?
On their website the card is listed with a max resolution of 2048x1536, but I suspect that to be the max resolution for the analog VGA port.
DVI is usually lower, but I cannot find it anywhere.... anyone out there with this card that can share this info?

In general, single channel DVI as found on these cards gets you up to 165 MHz pixel clock.

That'll do for 1600x1200 at 60 Hz (remember TFTs don't flicker!), and for higher resolution panels, the current approach is to lower the refresh rate even further. ATi's current drivers have a control panel switch to do that.

thx, so is it generally a bad idea to run an ATI AGP card with and anti PCI card or is it OK?

Normally it's fine to do that. ATi PCI cards usually play nice with AGP VGAs, be they chipset integrated or actual AGP cards. NVidia PCI cards have many more failure reports.

Haven't been talking about dual channel DVI for quite some time now? It seems suboptimal in getting that new 1900x1200 Apple Cinema Display only to have to run it at 50hz refresh even if it doesn't really make a difference as probably the fastest response times seem to equate to a 50Hz refresh.

ok this card should be fine for me, I plan to use it to run the DVI at 1280x768
