I am inclined to believe there is some truth in what he is saying. If so, it just goes to show that if you decide to break the rules, you had better take care of those who you broke them with

There had better be or he is looking at a lawsuit. Wow, this is going to be huge.

I would say that everyone in the front office is done. Cleared or not, these kind of accusations dont go away.

He's just a crybaby. His advisors (Jim Brown, etc...) realize he's fallen from the public eye. This is just to get him back in the headlines and a childish attempt to drag OSU down.

Edit: I'm not under the illusion that college sports is "clean" but how does OSU prove a negative?

Tressel is going to have a lot of explaining to do. This could nullify their national championship.

I totally agree. That's EXACTLY what I thought when I read that article.

This is a guy who lied 17 times to the NCAA investigators - and now says that he was just 'covering up' for the school? Come on.

The other guy, Marco Cooper - twice suspending for Drug-related arrests - this is another reliable source?

I'm not saying some of this stuff doesn't happen...my roomate at OSU was a three year starter on the O-Line, and there were places he went to eat and didn't have to pay for it, but to say that had anything to do with the coaching staff or the school is ridiculous...the same is true with these furniture accusations, or the meals story - this happens at every major college campus.

If the coaching staff in fact had anything to do with loaner cars or bogus jobs, then by all means they should be held accountable - but you really have to consider the source here...Clarrett is bitter he isn't in the NFL already, has had to basically do nothing for the past 2 years, and has had his name dragged through the mud - even in the last few weeks there was an article in SI or the Sporting News that compared the way Mike Williams has reacted to everything and the way Clarrett has, and the difference is night and day.

bingo. The kid thinks hes hot stuff, blew off the school after his 1st year, got laughed at by the pro recruiters, now is pissed off and thinks the world owes him something for his own mistakes. he never went to class, and when he did, he cheated, he didnt care. Only he is responsible for his own stupdity.

I don't agree. And it's more than just 2 guys saying it... more are coming out of the woodwork. What does Marco Cooper have to gain by saying this is true? Think about it, it's not like he's going to get a fat payday anytime soon. Also, I doubt Clarrett is "bitter" about not making the NFL this year, in 2005 he's going to hit payday when drafted.

Indeed. I wouldn't be suprise if most of these accusations are true, or even true for all big time BCS schools. Its up to the fans to decide, clean program = crappy bowls, cut the corners = big time bcs bowls.:D

Please, don't let this be true.

It's not going to help U of M in the BCS rankings if they don't have decent opponent to beat at the end of every year.

Although we never seem to agree (being a Yankees fan) I'll give you this one. I couldn't have put it better myself.

what has Clarrett ever done to make him suddenly credible?

Lied to the NCAA

Lied to the Columbus police

Telling the truth now?

What about Maldonado corroborating that he was placed in such easy classes, that 17 of only 40 credits transferred to U of MD? This was part of Clarett's accusation, that he had tutors that basically gave him the answers to tests (indirectly), Maldonado's accusations only verify this. OSU is guilty in my book, an investigation should be launched...
