I've seen a few people here say they found Maui Jim sunglasses at Costco? I'm in need of a new pair of sunglasses after part of the reflective coating on my Bolle's decided to rub off, and I want to get either Maui Jim's, Revo, or Costa Del Mar (I'd get Rudy Project if I could find the damn things to try them on). Anyway, I don't have a Costco membership, but my mother-in-law does. I can convince my wife to drag her to Costco so I can get in, but only if I know they have these things. Do they really carry them, and is it a decent assortment or just a couple of pairs? I know it likely varies store by store, but I'm just trying to get an idea.

Good to know, hopefully mine does as well. I'm hoping they have these. I would order them online, but I've never tried them on, so who knows how I'd look.

Most of the sports have that half frameless design, which I've never looked that great in. I'll have to try some on though and see how they look. The ones I linked to just looked appealing online, but they may look like crap in person. I'm also considering Costa Del Mar or Revo, both of which have some styles I like better than the Maui Jim's. But if the price at Costco is good, they Maui Jims might end up being cheaper.

So I went to my local costco, and they had like 4 pairs of Maui Jim's, however none were appealing at all. But after some looking, I liked these Ray Ban's and ended up getting those for $79.99, which is a great price.

If I hadn't immediately fallen in love with my Oakley half-jackets, I was looking at buying a set of Maui Jim's.

Aren't Maui Jims a little overpriced? I know you get what you pay for to some extent but I have been very happy with my last 2 pairs of fossil sunglasses having owned oakley, killer loop, rayban etc... in the past and I have found fossil are comparable for about half the price.

I had a pair of Fossil sunglasses for a day I ended up returning them. The optics on them sucked, and were driving my eyes nuts (I had picked them on on a whim without really paying attention to the quality), . I was used to wearing prescription sunglasses for so long (got LASIK last year), and I always paid to get the best lenses I could get, polarized, quality prescription lenses. So when I wore the Fossil's I noticed the bad optics. I then got Bolle's which worked great for me, and the difference was apparent compared to Fossil's.

I've heard great things about the Maui Jim's, and I thought they were great when I tried them on today, but the styles they had in store sucked. I liked these Ray Ban's and after wearing them, the quality felt a;most as good as the Maui Jims to me so I picked them up.

So I guess it's up to you if they are worth it. To me, quality lenses are worth it. But then again, I was used to paying $300-350 for a pair of good quality prescription sunglasses. From wearing glasses for so many years, I'm used to being very careful with my eyewear. I don't break them, I don't lose them, and I try to keep them in great shape. If you are the type that loses or breaks sunglasses, pricey stuff like Maui Jim's, Revo, etc probably aren't for you.

Buying them at Costco helps to take the burn off a bit though, the prices on the Maui Jim's was excellent there. Most of the pairs they had were in the $95 to $110 range, but the styles they had didn't appeal to me. I just liked the style of the Ray Ban's better, thought the optics were just as good to me, and the price was great.

I think Fossil makes some of the worse products.

My brother dropped some cash on a pair of Maui Jims and after wearing his for a day, I am totally sold on them. However the craptastic town I live in doesn't have a wide selection of places to shop at and I don't feel comfortable ordering them off the net since I can put them on my face and see what I look like in them.

I had two pair of those. Both broke when I dropped them on the floor.

Well the lens broke on one pair when I dropped them on a tile floor and the frames on the other pair became slightly bent after dropping them in the street, just enough so the lens kept popping out.

What did you get after that?
A Pair of Bolle Wrap Arounds and a pair of Predator Knockoffs.

I am the opposite. I had a pair of Costa's stolen along with a bag they were in. After that, I had my other pair for 14 years. I now have a pair of WallieWorld specials ($12 - only buy polarized) that I have had for a year or maybe it is two. They replace a pair that got scratched up (because they are cheap). The Costa's did not scratch. I had some scratchs in my really old pair, but that was where a softball bat hit them.

Well that sucks. I'm not rough with my glasses or anything, but I don't want them that fragile. I can still return them at least.
