New to the forum and overclocking in general so just wanted to say Hi. Since I dont know too much yet about the details involved in a mobo I was wondering if you guys could give me some suggestions. I basically wanted a generally good lan party rig but its almost important since I live on dorm so I do a lot of transporting. I dont really mind if its intel or AMD but I would like something that is future upgradable. I would like a mobo that has pci-e x16 and Im not too concerned about plugging my rig into an HDTV or anything and the sound doesnt have to be super uber or anything. So basically can someone recommend a good mobo that can meet my needs? Btw Im looking to put it into a X-Qpack.

Thanks in advance

I sent you a PM.

If you are going to do a QPack rig, I would consider the following:

Qpack, ditch the stock PSU, get something like an enermax noisetaker. Try to make sure the PSU is no deeper than 5.5 inches, to allow for room between it and the optical drive.

Get a Liteon optical drive. They are short and give you room to work.

I would go biostar Tforce 6100-939 if you want to overclock a little. If you don't want to overclock, get the MSI 6150 chipset board. It has better audio.

For the processor I would get an OEM opteron 146. I think Monarch has a coupon right now and you can get it for like $165 or something like that. Add a decent HSF.

For RAM, get 2x1Gb of PC3200 chips, try to get GSkill or OCZ if possible, if you overclock use the memory divider you won't take much of a performance hit.

For Video 7900GT FTW in a SFF.
