mATX boards fit in ATX cases, right?

Well, if I knew the answer, I wouldn't be asking, right? 😱

Looking to save a few bucks by going w/a NF2 400FSB mobo w/onboard video. Have an ATX case already.

Thanks.

Careful or you'll end up with what we call a "crack rack" in the Distributed Computing forum 😀 Yeah, they do indeed fit, they just leave some empty space at the bottom. My photo guide has a mATX board in an ATX case if you want to see how much space is vacant.

Heheh, The Pusher Himself shows up!

What's up, my friend? I'm at #417 on TeamAnanadtech and climbing fast. This is addictive as heck!

Check it out.

Onboard video and LAN. I already have a CD rom/HD/Case/PS to build it. 2.2GHz out of the box should be easy.

The case/PS currently powers the P3 rig..which even overclocked from 550 to 731MHz isn't really doing squat. I can take the CPU and put it back in it's original Dell rig...and have a Dinky Dell 550MHz rig again. 🙂 It could probably do a WU in a week....or three. 😀

"Pusher?" 😛 Well, if the shoe fits... 😀

I would've thought the 730MHz P3 would've packed a bit more punch than that, but if it's on a Dell board...

:Q ~ ahhhh. it all makes sense now.

Not to throw your plan into a spin, but I'd recommend a Shuttle AN35N Ultra if you have a spare video card around. Well hey, you've got one already, right? Costs less, overclocks well, has voltage adjustments, has the northbridge with official 400MHz bus support... I'll check into the lil' EPoX on a couple of those points if you want, but if you have a spare video card, I don't see any downsides to the Shuttle.

WAIT!! No they aren't!! I forgot; I have another one...it's got a fan...which means more noise...but I do have another card. I really would like to order from Newegg....I had a little CC incident a couple of weeks ago w/a shady company (Gigacase.com...sole USA distributor for Yeong Yang cases), and I am a little gunshy right now.

Let me get the manual for that EPoX and see if they give you CPU/memory voltage tweaks at least. I see it says it does have proper 400MHz bus support, so that's a good start.

 Hey, would I pick a bad mobo? (Hopes you don't find anything untoward!)

Grrrrrr... 56k dial-up is the pits :frown: I have two EPoX manuals downloading at 1.1k/sec and 670 bytes/sec respectively. Take a snack break-- d'oh and my connection just bailed. :| Will they resume...?

😱 ~ whew!

It is done. Got the 8RDA3I, 2500Barton, 512mb Corair Value PC3200. Another 2.2GHz machine for the crack rack. 😀 And, it will make a nice LAN rig too...with a good videocard in it.

Hey, MichaelD, are you going to fold with your soon-to-be (hopefully) Opteron rig?

Hey Mloot; how are you doing? 🙂 Yes, I'm planning on it. Still waiting on the DK8N though.

And more specifically than that; waiting for positive reviews of the DK8N. Though our friends in Australia and Japan have it, we've not seen any reviews yet. I already have the case (as you know...what a fiasco that was! 🙁 ) now I just need ALL the stuff that goes in it! 😀

MichaelD, your manual has arrived. I don't see any voltage controls and the highest memory bus speed that it "officially" will run is DDR333, so it'll be interesting to hear how that ends up doing for you in reality.

For which board, mech? I scrapped the mATX board for this one.

I DL'd the manual and it shows the Voltage Adjustment submenu in the BIOS. 🙂 Full set: CPU/Mem/AGP/Chipset.

No Firewire or SATA; but I don't use either of those, except in my main rig, which has all that. This mobo is strictly to get me to 200MHz FSB, stably, so I can whip the snot out of that Barton.

Thanks. 🙂
